Apply for a Grant
Grants are made only to non-profit charitable organizations that
are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service.
At this time, there are no application deadlines. The Board of Directors
meets periodically to review grant requests.
The Foundation gives priority to applications from the following geographic
areas: Chicago, Illinois, Washington, DC, and the San Francisco Bay
area in California.
The Foundation does not consider support for annual campaigns (mass
mailings) endowments, fellowships or sectarian religious activities.
Grants are not made to individuals or for political purposes.
Grants are generally in the range of $1,000 to $25,000. Grants
from the Foundation are usually awarded for one year and renewals
considered on an individual basis. For projects in those areas
in which the Foundation has a special interest, requests for multi-year
funding may be considered.
Only one grant application may be submitted in any twelve-month period.
Organizations receiving grants are required to submit a written report
on the funded project, which includes successes, lessons learned and
financial accountings of the expenditure of the funds, within twelve
months after receipt of the funds.
